In my clinic as well as my teacher’s clinic, I have seen the amazing benefits of acupuncture and consider it to be one of the most powerful medical models available.  I feel very fortunate to be able to have received training from some of the best teachers.  My sensei, Dr. Chieko Maekawa, studied under Dai-ichi Sorimachi sensei, the founder of Seitai Shinpo, in Tokyo, Japan.  While attending the Traditional Chinese Medical College of Hawaii I had the opportunity to apprentice under Dr. Maekawa.  I saw first hand just how effective her treatments are and wanted to do the same in my practice.

I have spent countless hours in discussion and clinic with my teacher and deeply thank her for this experience and for the continuing knowledge I receive from her.  I also receive advanced training with Sorimachi sensei every year, and I admire his masterful way of teaching as well as his devotion to his practice.  His system of acupuncture is extremely unique, and he has a gift to “see” the body beyond the surface.

To me, acupuncture is as much of an art as it is a science; it is an extension of who I am in many ways.  In my clinic, I work at integrating all of the knowledge I have been given from my Eastern and Western medical teachers so as to provide each patient with care that will support him or her most effectively.
